Political Economy and Thought

It is impossible to separate human history from economics: how necessary materials are produced, how they are distributed, who controls labor. This research and teaching cluster asks fundamental questions, then, about how societies organize themselves, and how they explicitly reflect on their way of producing and reproducing social life. Both work on economies themselves and on noted economists from Smith to Marx are central to this cluster.
