African and African American Studies

The History Department has a strong team dedicated to the history of Africa, the African diaspora, and African-American Studies, which cooperates with scholars from across the university, from Anthropology and Sociology to Religion and English. Focused on cultural, social, and policy history, this cluster is directly involved with some of the important issues facing the US today, from the legacy of slavery and convict leasing to de facto school segregation.
